Subject: Government stupidity
The most incompetent institution in the world — otherwise known as the federal government — has a new plan to protect you from terrorism. Get this . . .
Do you feel safer?
To us, this is yet another example of what a sham the government’s supposed war on terror is. It’s more evidence that the government is trying to do too much, in too many areas, with too little focus. It remains the case that, statistically speaking, the danger presented by terrorism is one of the smallest we face.
The new Lake Erie passport/photograph requirement is just one more government overreaction.
Have you had enough? If so, please send a message to Congress in support of our “I am not afraid” campaign. The message to Congress reads as follows . . .
“I am not afraid of terrorism, and I want you to stop being afraid on my behalf. Please start scaling back the official government war on terror. Please replace it with a smaller, more focused anti-terrorist police effort in keeping with the rule of law. Please stop overreacting. I understand that it will not be possible to stop all terrorist acts. I am not afraid.”
Use your personal comments to mention the Lake Erie fishermen as one more example of what a misguided, unfocused joke the official government war on terror has become. You can send your message here.
