Quote of the Day:
From the Washington Post’s annual Mensa Invitational, in which readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition. Here’s one of the winners:
“Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.”
Subject: July results
As you can see on the home page of DownsizeDC.org, we crossed 50,000 messages to Congress this month — and for only the third time in our history. Better yet, we did it for the second month in a row! We also recruited 571 new DC Downsizers this month, an increase of 67 over what we did in July of last year.
Biggest News: We initiated the purchase of not just one, but two servers yesterday! Once they’re in place, these acquisitions should go a long way toward solving some of the technical problems we’ve been having with our new website. We go from one to three servers. These servers will each have twice the memory space that our present server has, and both will be faster than the present one, as well. And we got them for less than we had expected to pay for just one server. This means . . .
The amount we need to make budget for July is reduced to just $563. We hope you like the progress we’re making. If you want to contribute to help us make budget for July, today is the last day of the month.
WE’RE AT THE DEADLINE.
Thank you for being a part of the growing Downsize DC army.
