Make the FDA advisory instead of dictatorial

If you and your doctor decide to try a treatment should the FDA be able to prevent it? If you want to use other organizations to certify safety and effectiveness, shouldn’t you be able to do that? Wouldn’t the FDA actually become more efficient if it had to compete with other certification organizations? If this is your position, shouldn’t your “representatives” in Congress be told to fix this?
