Bills passed in Congress, January 2014

The following are the bills the House and Senate passed last month. The bills were passed by voice vote except where indicated. Roll call votes for the House are found here, and for the Senate here. The descriptions of bills are essentially taken verbatim from the Congressional Record Daily Digest (Index).

Neil A. Armstrong Flight Research Center and Hugh L. Dryden Aeronautical Test Range: Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 667, to redesignate the Dryden Flight Research Center as the Neil A. Armstrong Flight Research Center and the Western Aeronautical Test Range as the Hugh L. Dryden Aeronautical Test Range, and the bill was then passed. 3 pages

Controlled Substances Act: Committee on the Judiciary was discharged from further consideration of S. 1171, to amend the Controlled Substances Act to allow a veterinarian to transport and dispense controlled substances in the usual course of veterinary practice outside of the registered location, and the bill was then passed. 4 pages

Newborn Screening Saves Lives Reauthorization Act: Senate passed S. 1417, to amend the Public Health Service Act to reauthorize programs under part A of title XI of such Act, after agreeing to the committee amendment in the nature of a substitute. 16 pages
