The following are the bills the House and Senate passed last month. The bills were passed by voice vote except where indicated. Roll call votes for the House are found here, and for the Senate here. The descriptions of bills are essentially taken verbatim from the Congressional Record Daily Digest (Index).

Courts and Public Defender Service Act: Senate passed S. 1379, to amend title 11, District of Columbia Official Code, to revise certain administrative authorities of the District of Columbia courts, and to authorize the District of Columbia Public Defender Service to provide professional liability insurance for officers and employees of the Service for claims relating to services furnished within the scope of employment with the Service, after agreeing to the committee amendment. 14 pages

District of Columbia Special Election Reform Act: Senate passed H.R. 3902, to amend the District of Columbia Home Rule Act to revise the timing of special elections for local office in the District of Columbia. 6 pages

National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coin Act: Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 2527, to require the Secretary of the Treasury to mint coins in recognition and celebration of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and the bill was then passed, 12 pages

HEARTH Act: Committee on Indian Affairs was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 205, to amend the Act titled “An Act to authorize the leasing of restricted Indian lands for public, religious, educational, recreational, residential, business, and other purposes requiring the grant of long-term leases'', approved August 9, 1955, to provide for Indian tribes to enter into certain leases without prior express approval from the Secretary of the Interior, and the bill was then passed. 14 paages

Honoring American Veterans Act: Committee on Veterans' Affairs was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 1627, to amend title 38, United States Code, to furnish hospital care and medical services to veterans who were stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, while the water was contaminated at Camp Lejeune, to improve the provision of housing assistance to veterans and their families, and the bill was then passed, 16 pages

Indian Law Enforcement Reform Act: Committee on Indian Affairs was discharged from further consideration of S. 2090, to amend the Indian Law Enforcement Reform Act to extend the period of time provided to the Indian Law and Order Commission to produce a required report, and the bill was then passed. 4 pages

Middle Class Tax Cut Act: By 51 yeas to 48 nays (Vote No. 184), Senate passed S. 3412, to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide tax relief to middle-class families, after agreeing to the motion to proceed. 18 pages
