Bills Passed in Congress, May 2014

The following are the bills the House and Senate passed last month. The bills were passed by voice vote except where indicated. Roll call votes for the House are found here, and for the Senate here. The descriptions of bills are essentially taken verbatim from the Congressional Record Daily Digest (Index).

National Law Enforcement Museum Act: Senate passed H.R. 4120, to amend the National Law Enforcement Museum Act to extend the termination date. 2 pages

The Regulation of the Height of Buildings in the District of Columbia: Senate passed H.R. 4192, to amend the Act entitled “An Act to regulate the height of buildings in the District of Columbia'' to clarify the rules of the District of Columbia regarding human occupancy of penthouses above the top story of the building upon which the penthouse is placed. 3 pages

Doolittle Tokyo Raiders Congressional Gold Medal: Senate passed H.R. 1209, to award a Congressional Gold Medal to the World War II members of the “Doolittle Tokyo Raiders'', for outstanding heroism, valor, skill, and service to the United States in conducting the bombings of Tokyo. 5 pages

Monuments Men Recognition Act: Senate passed H.R. 3658, to grant the Congressional Gold Medal, collectively, to the Monuments Men, in recognition of their heroic role in the preservation, protection, and restitution of monuments, works of art, and artifacts of cultural importance during and following World War II. 6 pages 

American Fighter Aces Congressional Gold Medal Act: Senate passed H.R. 685, to award a Congressional Gold Medal to the American Fighter Aces, collectively, in recognition of their heroic military service and defense of our country's freedom throughout the history of aviation warfare. 7 pages

Reliable Home Heating Act: Senate passed S. 2086, to address current emergency shortages of propane and other home heating fuels and to provide greater flexibility and information for Governors to address such emergencies in the future, after agreeing to the committee amendment in the nature of a substitute. 6 pages

Light-Duty Motor Vehicles: Senate passed H.R. 724, to amend the Clean Air Act to remove the requirement for dealer certification of new light-duty motor vehicles. 4 pages

Coconino National Forest: Senate passed H.R. 862, to authorize the conveyance of two small parcels of land within the boundaries of the Coconino National Forest containing private improvements that were developed based upon the reliance of the landowners in an erroneous survey conducted in May 1960. 6 pages
 
Collinsville Renewable Energy Production Act: Senate passed H.R. 316, to reinstate and transfer certain hydroelectric licenses and extend the deadline for commencement of construction of certain hydroelectric projects, after agreeing to the committee amendment in the nature of a substitute. 8 pages

North Texas Invasive Species Barrier Act: Committee on Environment and Public Works was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 4032, to exempt from Lacey Act Amendments of 1981 certain water transfers by the North Texas Municipal Water District and the Greater Texoma Utility Authority, and the bill was then passed. 2 pages

Emergency Drought Relief Act: Senate passed S. 2198, to direct the Secretary of the Interior, the Secretary of Commerce, the Secretary of Agriculture, and the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to take actions to provide additional water supplies to the State of California due to drought, 18 pages
