BILLS PASSED IN CONGRESS

 The following are the bills the House and Senate passed last month. The bills were passed by voice vote except where indicated. Roll call votes for the House are found here, and for the Senate here. The descriptions of bills are essentially taken verbatim from the Congressional Record Daily Digest.

Jessica Ann Ellis Gold Star Fathers Act: Senate passed S. 3650, to amend chapter 21 of title 5, United States Code, to provide that fathers of certain permanently disabled or deceased veterans shall be included with mothers of such veterans as preference eligibles for treatment in the civil service, 4 pages

Bankruptcy Technical Corrections Act: Committee on the Judiciary was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 6198, to amend title 11 of the United States Code to make technical corrections, and the bill was then passed, 18 pages

Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act:  Senate concurred in the amendment of the House of Representatives to the amendment of the Senate to H.R. 5566, to amend title 18, United States Code, to prohibit interstate commerce in animal crush videos. 8 pages

Copyright Cleanup, Clarification, and Corrections Act: Senate concurred in the amendments of the House of Representatives to S. 3689, to clarify, improve, and correct the laws relating to copyrights. 6 pages

FDA Food Safety Modernization Act:  By 73 yeas to 25 nays (Vote No. 257), Senate passed S. 510, to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act with respect to the safety of the food supply, 242 pages

Fair Credit Reporting Act: Senate passed S. 3987, to amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act with respect to the applicability of identity theft guidelines to creditors. 4 pages

Coin Modernization, Oversight, and Continuity Act: Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 6162, to provide research and development authority for alternative coinage materials to the Secretary of the Treasury, increase congressional oversight over coin production, and ensure the continuity of certain numismatic items, and the bill was then passed. 7 pages

American Eagle Palladium Bullion Coin Act: Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 6166, to authorize the production of palladium bullion coins to provide affordable opportunities for investments in precious metals, and the bill was then passed. 6 pages
