NATIONAL MEDIA APPEARANCE::::
“Steel on Steel,” hosted by John Loeffler, is heard on stations nationwide. This week, Jim Babka taped an interview with Mr. Loeffler about the National Animal Identification System and the Read the Bills Act. :::
The show will air at various times, on various stations, often more than once, during Saturday and Sunday. Like many larger syndicated shows, station lists aren’t available. :::
But on Saturday, the show will appear on the Internet, and you can go and listen by clicking here.:::
It’s a subscription based page, so you’ll need to use “downsizedc” (without the quotes) as both your login and password. In fact, John Loeffler has given all DC Downsizers a one month subscription for free.:::

Congress cannot claim to be representing us if they don’t know what’s in the bills they pass. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, even for a Congressman. :::
Today, I want to encourage you, once again, to take action on the Read the Bills Act.:::
But the action I’m going to suggest will be a little different this time. If you want to send another message to Congress, please feel free to add to the 40,000 others we’ve already sent to Capitol Hill. Click here to send your message.:::
But we need to take things to a whole new level.:::

REAL ID GRUDGE DAY + MEDIA ALERT:::
The REAL ID Act imposes a national identification system on the American people for the first time. All state issued driver’s licenses and ID cards will have to be REAL ID compliant. These REAL ID cards will come to include bio-identification information. REAL ID cards will be needed to get a job or board a plane. :::
The state of Montana has already come very close to refusing to comply with these federal mandates. The New Hampshire House has already voted not to comply and the question is now before that State’s Senate. But the federal government is bribing/blackmailing states to submit by offering or denying federal funds. :::
The REAL ID Act is one more step toward a centralized leviathan state, where everyone and everything is numbered and tracked by the federal government. Rules are now being drafted to place radio tracking tags on nearly every animal in America, and tags are actually being placed on trees, even as you read these words.:::
I know, this sounds like a bad joke. A paranoid delusional fantasy. But the plans of politicians, bureaucrats, and social engineers are increasingly indistinguishable from paranoid delusional fantasies. All of this is all too real. :::
Police states are rarely erected in a day. They are built incrementally, one small piece at a time, until suddenly all of the pieces join, and even the builders are surprised by the outcome. Doubtless no one is actually planning to create a police state, but a police state will be the inevitable result of all the measures being planned or enacted today. :::
The time to stop this process is now. The REAL ID Act was passed into law last year, but laws passed can be un-passed. So we want to let Congress know we have not forgotten about the REAL ID Act, and that we will never shut-up about it until it is repealed. On the 10th of every month we ask you to ask Congress to repeal the REAL ID Act. You can do so here.:::
Use your rights or lose them. (See Media Alert below the signature):::

MEDIA ALERT:::
Date: Monday, April 10, 2006 :::Stations: KBPI 106.7 FM Denver, Colorado :::Host: Uncle Nasty :::Show: The Uncle Nasty Show:::Topic: The Read the Bills Act :::Length: 15 minutes :::Guest: Jim Babka, President, DownsizeDC.org :::Internet: Log on to www.kbpi.com:::Click on “Listen Live” on the top right corner.:::
The interview is taped for later broadcast. We believe it will air sometime after 3 PM Mountain time. An unconfirmed rumor has it that Jim might get to debate a Congressman about the Read the Bills Act! If that happens, we’ll post a notice on the Downsize DC blog immediately after the interview is taped and Jim knows for sure whether a Congressman participated. :::
