Congressional Onslaught

Are you ready? This is going to be a busy month. Congress has a lot planned for us.

Starting next week, you’ll begin seeing Urgent Action Items. We expect that to be a regular occurrence up until Memorial Day.

The last month the miscreants on Capitol Hill had us this busy was September. And we won one of those campaigns! As I sit here writing this to you now, my hunch is that we’ll think September was a “walk in the park,” by comparison.

On today’s Downsize DC Conference Call, my Sunday radio show, I’ll tell you what’s coming down the pike.

Will we be capable of keeping up the pace necessary to stop Congress from doing so many bad things? Well, during the last ten days or so, the Downsize DC Team has been gathering intelligence and preparing. But as we near the end of the month, we’ve found a reason to be distracted.

I can’t remember the last time I used a Sunday message to do anything other than promote the radio program, which airs at 4 PM Eastern (3 PM Central, 2 PM Mountain, and 1 PM Pacific). But we only have two days left to this month and I think there are some things you, as a DC Downsizer, need to know.

We’re prepared to “work our tails off” this month. But we need your help. Much as we might want to, we cannot save the world if we cannot pay ALL the bills. We’ve achieved our modest budget for eight consecutive months — largely thanks to our wonderful monthly pledgers. But right now, we’re still $2,321 short of the goal.

And I’m pleased to announce that when it comes to pledges, we’re now less than $600 away from $7,500 per month. What’s significant about $7,500? When we achieve the $7,500 level in monthly pledges, we’ll release our new One Subject at a Time Act. Two weeks ago, we saw the first draft our attorneys prepared. We’re eager to roll out this next item for the Downsize DC Agenda.

Can you help us get refocused — to lift this concern and concentrate on the real problem . . . Congress? If you have yet to donate this year, please make a generous investment in our work. We really could use a donor who could cover the entire amount!

Can you please help us to complete and release the One Subject at a Time Act? You can make a pledge of as little as $3. Let’s be honest here: That’s a rate virtually anyone can afford to invest. Obviously, we’ll get to our goal faster if you can afford to up your support to $8, $10, $15, or more. But it’s important that we have lots of new people doing a little — the Downsizer Army in action.

Now, if we cannot meet our goal — if we miss a beat here — there will be a loss. We’ve invested in web advertising at the highly-trafficked, Reason.com. We’ve been there since late January and more than 20,200 referrals have come our way. Because we’ve been there so long, our ad has the highest placement on the page — a place we can maintain if we make the payment in time.

As you can see, there are abundant reasons to join us as financial partners right now. Opportunity abounds. Progress can be maintained and we can continue to reach new levels of success, but only with your support.

I believe we can achieve some important legislative victories in the next month.

I really want to encourage you to listen to my show today to hear what Congress has in store (which, once again, airs at 4 PM Eastern). You won’t believe what all is about to happen until you hear it.

How will I fit it all in my hour show?

1-800-259-9231 is the show number.
Or you can email me during the show at “call at downsizedc dot org”

And obviously, we’ll have a Gun Owners of America update!

The show broadcasts on: KLID 1340-AM, Poplar Bluff, Missouri; WBCR 1470-AM Maryville, Tennessee; and WKLP 1390-AM Keyser, West Virginia. Sometimes, it’s on Radio Free Austin.

But for most of you the best way to tune in is via the web at the Genesis Communications Network website.

Tune in. Call in.

Thanks for your support,
