Food Safety: The Lame Duck Can Be Deadly

The “lame-duck” session is the interval between the November elections and the commencement of the newly-elected 112th Congress in January. This means members of Congress who’ve been fired from their jobs have one last shot, in November and December, at imposing their ideological agenda on the nation.

The lame-duck session is dangerous. Those who’ve been fired from their jobs will no longer care what we think.

But just as frightening are the re-elected members, who will be eager to finish up old business before getting a fresh start after the New Year.

For instance, members of both parties could rush to pass S.510, the fake “food safety” bill that would crush family farms and small businesses. They might think we’ll forget about this vote by the time of the next elections in two years. This means . . .

WE CAN’T MAKE THEM FORGET HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS TO US

One way to do this is by making it a campaign issue. Tell your Representatives and Senators TODAY that you oppose the fake food safety bill. Pressure them to voice their own opposition on the campaign trail.

The more they realize how important this is, the better our chances of killing the bill once and for all.

You may borrow from or copy this letter . . .

The fake “food safety” bill will destroy farms and businesses and cost countless jobs in a still-struggling economy. It will sacrifice the safety that comes from competition and diversity and instead concentrate control of the food supply in the FDA and Big Ag.

This is so important to me that I want to hear you voice your opposition to S.510 (and H.R. 2749) on the campaign trail. Promise me . . .

* You will oppose the bill if it comes up in the lame-duck session
* You will preserve my freedom to grow food, and to consume food and supplements from producers I trust
* You will oppose any bill that permits warrantless inspections, forces extensive record-keeping, and imposes costly regulations on family farms and small businesses

I expect to hear a public statement from you soon.
