This bill will give you the power to make some federal spending decisions

A bill that would let YOU choose between Habitat for Humanity and HUD. Retweet

First, some good news…

We set out last week to attract 58 new DC Downsizers through advertising. This was one more than we had recruited the previous week. Guess what?

We exceeded that goal, signing-up 127 new DC Downsizers!

Welcome to all of you! Our new and present goals are…

  • Add 145 new DC Downsizers this week. Indeed, we’ve already added 144 of them!
  • Add $50 in new monthly pledges by July 14 (we’re behind schedule).
  • Raise $1,000 in new one-time donations by July 14.

Thank you for any help you can give to meet these goals. Remember, we have the following objectives…

  • Constantly recruit more people.
  • Constantly raise more money and apply it to recruitment.
  • Constantly increase the amount of pressure Congress feels to pass libertarian reforms.

Please help us with the pressure part right now…

Make federal agencies compete with better alternatives?

The UCCA (Universal Charitable Tax Credit Act) would start to make that happen. It allows you to snag $500 of your tax money away from Congress, and redirect it to a cause you support.

This bill was created by a great organization called We Do Better. We’re helping them promote it. In fact, we’ve made it one of our Downsize DC Agenda bills. The UCCA is already the law in Arizona. Let’s make it happen at the federal level too.

Go read our letter to Congress. If you like it, send it, or put it in your own words. Then…

Thanks for being an ACTIVE DC Downsizer,

Jim Babka & Perry Willis
Downsize DC

P.S. If you want to get more deeply involved, We Do Better is active and introducing this bill in 15 different states. They have seven teams already set up! And they’d love for you to set up a team here: http://wedobetter.org/get-involved/
