More-with-less Innovation: Faster, cheaper, inkjet printing

Hewlett-Packard invested $1.4 billion to make inkjet printing, better, faster, and cheaper.

The resulting new technology will allow a 4×6 picture to be printed in 14 seconds. It will also save money on ink, by placing each color in a separate cartridge. Old HP cartridges had three inks together which meant that the remaining amount of two of the inks was lost whenever the third ink ran dry.

This may seem like a small thing, but thousands or millions of such small improvements are being made everyday in all areas of our economy. And they add up. You can read more about the new HP printers here.
