Remember…
Downsize DC's “Read the Bills Act” would force Congress to read every word of every bill they want to impose on you.
Even more challenging, bills would be read aloud, and at least half of the members would have to sit through the reading.
And if they don't, the legislation would be considered null and void in court.
This is the bill, from our Downsize DC Agenda, that we consider the most important.
Rand Paul has continued to keep his promise. He's delivered our bill, intact. But he hasn't stopped there…
- He also introduced a Read the Bill _rule_ for the Senate. This rule imposes a waiting period, before voting, based on the size of the bill.
- He has even made Read the Bills a priority theme on the campaign trail. It's mentioned in the majority of his “stump speeches.”
Our RTBA, with the read aloud provision, would dramatically reduce the number and size of bills Congress passes. They won't want to endure the fatigue of reading long bills. This would be a crucial reform.

Failing to read your bills amounts to legislation without representation. Revolutions have been fought for less than this.
