Protect your Internet from Congress

If you think the IRS is bad, just wait until the Pentagon regulates the Internet.

I just sent Congress a letter about cyber-security using DownsizeDC.org’s Internet freedom campaign. You can copy, edit, or borrow from my letter . . .

I’m glad the Senate refuses to consider the CISPA bill the House passed (HR 624). But I’m disturbed that the Senate wants to create it’s own “cyber-security” bill.

I don’t want you to protect me, because I do not trust you to have this kind of power over the Internet. I DO NOT CONSENT to any bill that…

* regulates the Internet
* gives the military access to my information

We don’t need top-down approaches to cybersecurity. Decentralized, diverse internet defenses are the best way to reduce risk and minimize the damage of cyber attacks. These will naturally be provided by Internet companies.

Your help is not needed.

-END-

You can send your letter via DownsizeDC.org’s Educate the Powerful System.
