Quote of the Day:

“The Revolution was effected before the War commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments of their duties and obligations … This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people, was the real American Revolution.”
— John Adams, (1735-1826) Founding Father, 2nd US President, February 13, 1818

Subject: REAL ID

We’re working on a health care solutions message, but it’s taking time to do it right. It will be next week before we can get it to you. Meanwhile, we really would like to reach the 40,000 messages to Congress mark in September — it would be the fourth month in a row we’ve done that. So . . .

It’s been a while since we’ve asked Congress to repeal the REAL ID Act. We don’t want them to think we’ve forgotten about it. We don’t want them to think we no longer care. It’s time to remind them that we don’t want a centralized, top-down, national identification system that they can mismanage the same way they’ve mismanaged the terrorist watch list, and all their other fancy databases.

We prefer government power to be decentralized, thank you very much. It’s the American Way.

Please send Congress a message asking them to repeal the REAL ID Act.

In other news, we’re still short of our budget for September. There are only three days left to hit the mark. Please make a contribution to keep us going.

Thank you for being a DC Downsizer.
