Should Rand Paul Reintroduce Read the Bills, Write the Laws, and One Subject?

Rand Paul was enthusiastic about Read the Bills, Write the Laws, and One Subject before he got elected to the U.S. Senate. You can watch the video where he made the commitment to me: http://youtu.be/Ruc667e8qtA. (Please forgive that I look like a “valley girl” chewing my gum.)

After Mr. Paul got elected it took some time to actually get the bills introduced. This was understandable. Being new to the Senate is a busy and distracting thing. But now

We've been trying to get Senator Paul's office to re-introduce these bills in the current Congress. We’ve made little progress. That too is somewhat understandable given that Mr. Paul is now a busy Senator who is also (apparently) running for President. But here's the deal

Anyone doing either thing — being a Senator, or running for President — should want to have the sponsorship of these bills on his resume. And doing the right thing doesn’t become optional just because you're seeking higher office. Quite the contrary

Doing the right thing becomes mandatory!

So what can we do to get Senator Paul's attention for this matter?

We need your help.

  • Have you ever donated to or voted for Senator Paul?
  • Are you a potential supporter for his future campaigns?
  • Do you want to see him re-introduce the Read the Act, the Write the Laws Act, and the One Subject at a Time Act?

If so, could you please CALL and tell his office that, mentioning any of the above items that apply to your case.

Better yet, if you live in Kentucky, please ask if you can get a firm decision on this matter. Ask if you can get a call-back with the answer, or arrange to call back yourself the next day to learn the answer? You will need to tell the staffer you reach that you are a constituent when you make this call.

Here’s the Senator's phone number: 202-224-4343

Please drop us an email and let us know you took on of the above actions. Use this Feedback@DownsizeDC.org

Thank you. We’ll report the results of this effort in a future message.

P.S. Getting people to make phone calls is one of the hardest things for a grassroots organizer to accomplish. It's easy to put off till later. Some people are just too nervous. You might find it helpful to write down a short sentence and just read it when you call. But it’s very important that you call. We need every single call we can get in order for them to feel the motivation to respond.
