TSA Thugs Threaten Media Outlets

Jonathan Corbett is suing the TSA for its unconstitutional body scanners and pat-down methods.

He’s also demonstrating that the TSA simply doesn’t work.

His work motivated me to send a letter telling Congress to abolish the TSA, and I invite you to do the same.

You may borrow from or copy this letter…

I urge you to read Jonathan Corbett’s blog post about the ineffectiveness of the TSA’s pornoscanners. Corbett demonstrates (http://bit.ly/zpfvuW)…

* that “if you have a metallic object on your side, it will be the same color as the background and therefore completely invisible to both visual and automated inspection.”
* that terrorists must have figured this out already.
* and that is beyond belief that the TSA wasn’t already aware of the failure of the scanners.

In other words, the pornoscanners actually put passengers at GREATER RISK — and the TSA knows it!

Even worse, the TSA issued threats against mainstream media outlets that wanted to interview Corbett! (http://bit.ly/xATyG9)

The TSA already violates the 4th and 5th Amendments, and now they’re going after the 1st!

Corbett argues that traditional metal detectors and bomb-sniffing dogs would be more effective.

But I believe the skies would be safer if we abolished the TSA altogether.

Think about it. Burglaries, domestic violence, and murders are far more common than terrorism. Yet we don’t have a tax-funded security guard stationed at the front door of every home and business, patting us down before we enter. I wouldn’t want such an intrusion.

People take reasonable precautions without their lives in fear of crime. But, when they go to the airport, they’re supposed to be deeply afraid of the nearly non-existent threat of terrorism.

And they are even TREATED like terrorists until they prove themselves to be innocent. Not only is this unconstitutional — not only is it un-American — but it’s also a bad idea.

Remember that…

* No airline wants to be known as having allowed terrorists on board.
* No airport wants to be known as the origin of a terrorist attack.

Working with insurance companies and private security firms, airports and airlines would devise effective ways to protect the safety of flights WITHOUT invading the privacy of passengers. A free market in airline security would mean security firms would compete with each other in cost, effectiveness, and, something the Federal State is chronically unable to deliver, customer satisfaction.

We don’t need the TSA and its thuggish tactics. Abolish it.
