VICTORY! Cybersecurity Bill Defeated

Downsize DC has spent the last few weeks renovating and creating. We haven't called you to action since the Obamacare decision.

However, before that time, we vigorously fought various cybersecurity bills in the Senate. We opposed…

  • Intrusions on your privacy
  • Burdensome regulations and bureaucracie
  • The de facto implementation of the SOPA and PIPA “intellectual piracy” bills that you helped defeat last winter

Thanks to public pressure, late last month, a new bill was considered that addressed most (but not all) of our privacy concerns.

Still, it would've have imposed new and unnecessary burdens on the voluntary sector.

Good news! Last week, the bill was defeated, thanks to a Republican filibuster.

How did this happen?

Simply, people like you withdrew their consent to these bills and told their Senators.

When the people withdraw their consent, the politicians pay attention.

THANK YOU for delivering this victory!
