Want to sponsor Syrian bloodshed? Plus, Help Wanted

The Downsize DC Team is seeking a PHP Programmer.

Details follow today’s…

Action Item

I sent Congress a letter using our Stop Policing the World campaign.

The hardwired message says…

Defend America only. Do not manipulate or police the world.

Send your own letter. You can borrow from what I wrote . . .

Stop President Obama from meddling in Syria.

The President claims he is only helping the “moderate” FSA (Free Syrian Army). But the FSA has sold weapons to Al Qaeda-linked groups! (http://rt.com/op-edge/proxy-war-syria-conflict-110/)

Even if Assad falls, the war will continue between the rival factions. We know this because it’s already happening. (reut.rs/16wQ1T0) By using my taxes to sponsor this bloodshed, the President is implicating me in the resulting deaths. I DENY CONSENT!

We will suffer blowback from this intervention. Then, if the past is any guide, you or your replacement will use that blowback to steal more of my freedom. STOP IT!

The President has NO authority — legally or morally — to intervene in foreign conflicts. But you do have the authority, and the responsibility, both legally and morally, to serve as a check and a balance to the President’s actions.

Do your duty or risk losing more of your legitimacy.

END LETTER

You can send your letter using DownsizeDC.org’s Educate the Powerful System.

You will receive a copy of your letter to Congress via email. Please share your letter with friends. Ask them to join you in taking the same action.

Help Wanted

Downsize DC is seeking programmer(s) with expertise in PHP programming, with proven experience building consumer-facing, web-based applications, to work on discrete project/tasks as needed (no full-time positions available, at this time).

You will perform analysis, design, and development for new product features. Each new product will be broken down into project/tasks. You will need to be able to develop delivery estimates and then participate in scheduling and prioritization for these project/tasks.

You should have…

  • Strong experience working in Linux environments
  • Thorough knowledge of relational databases (PostrgeSQL, MySQL), schema design and implementation, and SQL
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTTP, HTML, and CSS

Java and/or Scala experience is not required, but that would be a plus. Also, it is extremely important that you let us know the range of compensation you expect, so priority will be given to those candidates who supply that information (keep in mind that these are non-profit organizations).

For immediate consideration, do NOT hit reply to this email. Instead, send a message to HelpWanted@DownsizeDC.org.

Jim Babka
President
Downsize DC Foundation
& DownsizeDC.org, Inc.
