We told you of a disastrous federal court ruling giving the FEC power it doesn't even want.
Help prevent future disasters by telling Congress to pass the Write the Laws Act.

Passing the Write the Laws Act (WTLA) would prevent the kind of confusion the federal courts just caused in Van Hollen v. FEC. Because of that ruling there is now great uncertainty about what rules non-partisan groups must follow.
WTLA forces Congress to pass the SPECIFIC regulations by which we must live. It restores the Separation of Powers.
The WTLA is also practical. It will help prevent the uncertainty that Congress creates when it delegates regulatory power to unelected bureaucrats.
That's because…
Agencies like the FEC are ideologically divided, making it impossible to predict what “rules” will be written and enforced.
And…
Federal courts may strike those rules down, meaning even MORE uncertainty as new rules are written.
For example, after the Van Hollen v. FEC District Court ruling, non-partisan activist groups don't know what new reporting requirements they'll have to comply with, and at what cost.
Countless industries face the same uncertainty in the face of bureaucracies like the EPA and FDA. This regulatory uncertainty is bad for the economy, and bad for freedom.
END the confusion!
PASS the Write the Laws Act!

And it bears repeating that, DownsizeDC.org was born out of an organization called RealCampaignReform.org. We fought the passage of the McCain-Feingold law. We took a case, challenging that law, all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. And it was the result of that decision, that inspired us to launch Downsize DC.
Since then, on seven different occasions, Downsize DC has told Federal Appeals Courts or the U.S. Supreme Court, that YOU have a First Amendment, FREE PRESS right to be free of their incumbent-protecting restrictions.
We've championed this cause like no other group. And we've made a lot of progress, with tangible results.
We're here for YOU. So, if you haven't yet contributed in 2014, please invest your support right now. That way, we can help you fight this and other important battles. We accept cash and checks by mail, and Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, PayPal, and Bitcoins online.
