ACTION ITEM

Ladar Levison refused to let the Feds spy on his customers without a warrant. We think this makes him a hero, but…

The Feds fined him and threatened to arrest him.

Please join us in defending Ladar Levison using our campaign to Deny Consent to State Criminality.

The hardwired message says…

I deny consent to “government” criminality.

I added the following comments, which you may borrow or edit…

Ladar Levison owned Lavabit, a secure, encrypted, email service. He would turn over individual customer records, including Edward Snowden’s, under lawful court orders.

As the New York Times reports, the FBI wanted FAR more: “the passwords, encryption keys and computer code that would essentially allow the government untrammeled access to the protected messages of all his customers.” (http://nyti.ms/1bse9hZ)

Levison resisted and ultimately closed his business rather than harm his customers. He…

* had to layoff an employee
* lost ten years of work
* lost his income

He was then threatened with arrest SIX times! (http://bit.ly/18BZY5q) He was also prohibited from publicizing details of the case for almost two months, in violation of the First Amendment.

By making honesty and integrity dangerous you ensure there will be less of both. Corruption will expand.

A REAL government understands that honesty and integrity are GOOD for society. YOU punish these things. The FBI has behaved in a criminal way. I deny consent. You must protect rather than persecute people like Ladar Levison. Otherwise, your governing has no moral claim to legitimacy.
