Where can I download this? I’d like to listen to while on the go (without mobile data). For some reason, downloading from SoundCloud is disabled. I don’t have the freedom to save it and listen to it with the software that I prefer 🙁

I was able to download it with the great utility youtube-dl. It would still be nice if the download button was enabled.

I’m neither, I’m a Linux user. Other operating systems restrict your freedom too much. Here are instructions for enabling downloads on your SoundCloud account: https://help.soundcloud.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003565708-Enabling-downloads-for-your-track

I’m just at the end of this, and the whole doctor thing threw me for a loop. Maybe I missed something here, but how does voluntaryism or libertarianism prevent your doctor from retiring? I agree that Obamacare was bad and that modern big healthcare sucks (I suffer through the bureaucracy as well), but I can’t help but think that large corporate healthcare is the free market at work. They’ve organized like this for a reason; either consumers prefer it or it makes them more money. Before Obamacare, you’d have to deal with the same soulless conglomerates. The way I see it, you were a patron to a small business that you liked, the small business sold out to a large business that you didn’t like, and then you were free to give your business to a different organization. Yes, the government forces you to get coverage and that sucks, but they don’t mandate who you have to get it from.

          John,

I believe the implication was that Jim’s doctor quit his private practice because of the new limitations and regulations that Obamacare introduced. It would be interesting to see if we could get Jim’s previous doctor to join us on the show and talk about this from his perspective. I’d like to know why he chose that moment to retire.

My Doc, 2014, did quit as a result of Obamacare. Our records were moved outside of the practice we knew.

But the conglomerates are NOT a free market outcome. They’re driven by a host of factors, but mostly by the third-party payment system, which exists because of state involvement in healthcare. I had to make choices, in telling the story. One of those choices was to leave out an entire talk on the history of healthcare in the U.S. Maybe I’ll take that up in a future episode.

          Thanks for listening.

Here’s the clincher for ABANDONING your use of the term “Voluntaryism”:
A key principle of “Voluntaryism” is NON-PARTICIPATION, NON-VOTING, NON-ENGAGEMENT in the current political system – it is in my view an attempt to turn sloth into virtue-signalling.
DownsizeDC is the very opposite of slothful disengagement.
    DROP THIS MISLEADING, NOXIOUS TERM.
