Libertarian Victory 2024!

Jim Babka

Perry Willis

When Perry Willis and Jim Babka wrote this science fiction story in 2018 they believed there were opportunities for libertarian victory in the decade to come. But the crime of statism is still in effect and bureaucrats are on the prowl, so that compels the following disclaimer…

What you’re about to read is not the opinion of DownsizeDC.org, Inc. or the Downsize DC Foundation (home of the Zero Aggression Project) neither of whom ever take any position on a specific candidate or party in any election.

This libertarian victory story starts at the glorious end and works back to the humble beginning.

It shows what will happen because of two important new libertarian projects…

  • The Libertarian Census
  • Creativity PAC

This is where our libertarian victory story ends (for now)…

Tuesday, November 5, 2024

The longed-for day arrives. The Libertarian Party presidential candidate wins a plurality in enough states to gain an electoral college majority. [NOTE: Major parties can nominate a libertarian, but that seems less likely by 2024.]

And his coattails cross partisan lines! Many other libertarians are elected too, including not only LP candidates, but also libertarians running as Republicans and Democrats. It’s the biggest political realignment since the Republicans replaced the Whigs in the 1860s. How did this libertarian victory happen?

Between November 5 and September 15, 2024…

Supportive super-PACs, led by Creativity PAC, spend hundreds of millions on saturation advertising, voter identification calls, and GOTV (get-out-the-vote) calls. The LP candidate also receives round-the-clock media coverage and participates in the presidential debates for the second election in a row.

These results were made possible by the Libertarian Census, a database containing tens-of-millions of Americans who hold mostly libertarian views. Roughly ten million of these people are active in the libertarian cause. A preview of what these ten million libertarian activists could make possible came from the midterm election two years before…

Tuesday, November 8, 2022

A dozen libertarians join Rand Paul, Justin Amash, and Thomas Massie in Congress. Most win their election through the Republican Party using information gathered by the Libertarian Census. This new round of libertarian victory continues a process that began on…

Phone banks start calling every person who voted the previous day. They ask a simple question: For whom did you vote in the Presidential election? This is important because…

Past libertarian campaigns spent vast resources to generate votes that promptly vanished after Election Day. Never again will that happen! Now we’ll know who those voters were. The resulting database will expand the Libertarian Census and set the stage for libertarian victory 2024! And there are many millions of voters to find this time because…

Between November 3 and September 17, 2020…

Financial support surges during the final weeks of the campaign. Much of this money is used for saturation advertising. But some is saved to fund the phone calls that will begin after Election Day. The flood of financial support owes a lot to…

September 16, 2020 — the real libertarian Election Day

Presidential Debate 1992

Just announced: The Libertarian candidate will participate in the presidential debate for the first time ever!

This is a huge breakthrough. Participation in the debates was enough to move Ross Perot from 8% [the level Johnson-Weld achieved] to 19% back in 1992. And it will do much the same for the Libertarian in 2020. But how was this milestone achieved?

September 9, 2020

The debate announcement is a week away. The Debate Commission feels besieged. Everyone is asking them, “Will you try to exclude the Libertarian?”

TV talk shows are debating the issue. But where it used to be a discussion between only the Left and the Right, now there’s a libertarian representative on each of these shows. This sends a powerful message to the public — the Libertarian is one of the viable options. But how did this come about?

September 8, 2020

It’s headline news across the country. The LP presidential candidate is now polling above 15% in the five surveys needed to qualify for the presidential debates. What caused this remarkable showing?

May 25, 2020 – the LP Presidential Nomination

The Libertarian Party’s national convention selects their Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees. But there’s a difference this time…

All previous LP nominations happened with little national fanfare. But this one is accompanied by…

  • An instant explosion of national advertising.
  • Round-the-clock media coverage, just like the Democrats and Republicans have always enjoyed.

The path to this result began five months earlier when…

March 2020

Creativity PAC supporters bombard media decision makers, demanding equal coverage. Libertarians send waves of letters to media Board members. Calls flood media offices. Producers and journalists are deluged by email. These communications make the following arguments…

  • There are roughly the same number of libertarians as there are conservatives and liberals.
  • Failing to cover the libertarian movement is inventing the news rather than reporting it.
  • We libertarians, in our many millions, will no longer stand for this. We are your customers too, and the customer is always right.
  • We want round-the-clock coverage, just like the Left and Right receive. Every show that has representatives of the Left and Right must have a libertarian representative too.

You are not alone

Over the weeks and months to come this barrage will lead to media submission. Libertarians will become a part of the daily news cycle. The goal is visibility parity for the libertarian movement. Visibility parity will provide social confirmation — proof that they’re not alone and that libertarianism is fashionable — to dormant libertarians. They’ll be inspired to activism. Donations will swell to fund advertising. The increased visibility will tell voters that the Libertarian candidate is now one of the acceptable choices. Eventual participation in the Presidential debates and growing electoral success will flow from the above improvements.

But the steps that led to this major turning point happened in the months before…

January 2020

Jim Babka and Perry Willis add a social networking system to the Libertarian Census. This feature allows Census participants to communicate with each other. This attracts even more libertarians and increases activism. This step was preceded by…

August 2019

Creativity PAC begins operation. Representatives tour the country to raise funds for the advertising blitz that will follow the Libertarian Party presidential nomination on May 25, 2020. Special emphasis is given to an option fundraising plan. Each donor is encouraged to pledge an even larger amount assuming pledges equal to $10 million are raised.

Maps are also added to the Libertarian Census website. These maps allow participants to see where other libertarians are located in their area. Look! You’re not alone! This feature increases the rate at which libertarians participate in the Census.

April 2019

Jim Babka and Perry Willis complete the legal filings to launch Creativity PAC. This new organization will create massive…

  • Funding for libertarian candidates (both LP candidates and those running in the establishment party primaries).
  • Activism that will pressure the media to give libertarians coverage equal to what the Left and the Right receive.
  • Voter identification advertising.
  • Get-out-the-vote campaigns to mobilize all the libertarians discovered during the identification stage.

January 2019

Jim Babka and Perry Willis unveil two programs to the world…

  • The Plan: How to create a libertarian America in as little as ten years using resources that already exist.
  • The Libertarian Census website.

Jim and Perry begin raising money to execute The Plan, starting with the Libertarian Census which will…

  • Locate the 30-60 million Americans who currently self-identify as libertarians, or who hold mostly libertarian views.
  • Activate 10 million of those people to execute the strategies and tactics described in The Plan.

The Beginning

YOU are the beginning of libertarian victory. Will you decide to be one of the key people who makes this vision reality?

Please join the Founders Committee for our Libertarian Census project.

12 different studies find that 30 million Americans currently self-identify as libertarian. Another 30 million hold mostly libertarian positions on the issues. The Libertarian Census will attempt to locate all of these libertarians and activate some of them to help create a libertarian America.

Goal: Raise $252,000, mostly in monthly pledges, to capitalize this effort.

If you start a monthly pledge of $10 or more, or increase an existing monthly pledge so that it’s $10 or more, or make one-time contributions of $100 or more, we’ll add you to a Founders Committee roster on the coming Libertarian Census website.

The Founders Committee roster will be listed in order of contribution size. Donate here!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll unveil the details of The Plan. Stay tuned…
