Pass this amendment

Today’s Downsizer Dispatch . . .

Please share with concerned friends . . .

Quote of the Day:

“All change starts with a distant rumble, a rumble at the grassroots level, and if you stop and listen today, you will hear such a rumble right now.” — Senator Tom Coburn (OK)

Subject: Pass Amendment #1236 to the Senate immigration bill

The first votes for amendments to the cancerous immigration bill may happen in the Senate as soon as today, so ACTION TODAY is urgently needed.

We’re trying to defeat the Senate immigration bill. It’s too big, too complicated, too expensive, and too intrusive. Plus, it won’t work. Plus, if it passes as it’s currently written it will entangle Americans in all sorts of national identification schemes like REAL ID or Biometric Social Security Cards.

We’re devoting every day this week to this issue, and suggesting different arguments for you to use each day. Please use all of them, in different messages! Remember, there is strength in numbers — including the number of messages you send.

On Monday we asked you to object to the use of earmarks to bribe Senators to vote for the immigration bill. Do you want your tax money used to bribe your Senators to vote for legislation you oppose. If not, then tell your Senators that.

Ask them to oppose the immigration bill. Ask them to refuse any earmark-bribes they’re offered in exchange for their vote. You can do so here.

Tuesday we warned you about Senator Schumer’s amendment to create a Biometric Social Security card. We asked you to send your Senator’s a message opposing both the immigration bill and Schumer’s amendment. If you haven’t yet sent your Senators a message making this request, you can do so here.

Today we want to ask you to send your Senators a message once again opposing the immigration bill, but asking that your Senators vote for the Baucus-Tester-Sununu-Collins-Leahy-Akaka amendment, #1236.

This amendment would strip out the REAL ID background check provisions. That way, even if the immigration bill passes, the worst part of it will have been removed. Ask your Senators to support amendment #1236 to the immigration bill. You can do so here.

Finally, we want to remind you that . . .

The Producers of “9/11 Press for Truth” have given us permission to post the video on our website, where you can watch it, and make your own evaluation of it for free. The video is posted here.

If you would like to have a “9/11 Press for Truth” DVD mailed to your home, here’s how to get it . . .

If you’re an existing monthly credit card pledger in good standing as of June 15, 2007, all you have to do is increase your monthly pledge by at least $1, and we’ll send one to you.

If you’re NOT an EXISTING monthly credit card pledger then you can start a monthly credit card pledge of at least $6, or make a one-time credit card donation of $35 or more, and we’ll send you the DVD. (Sorry, for technical reasons we cannot make this offer for PayPal pledges or donations).

You can make your contribution here.

Thank you for being a DC Downsizer.
