Rand Paul Introduces the One Subject at a Time Act

Fantastic news!

Rand Paul has introduced the “One Subject at a Time Act” (OSTA) in the Senate!

This means that we now have the bill introduced in both chambers of Congress, with two co-sponsors in the House.

Let's…

  • Thank Rand Paul for introducing this legislation!
  • Ask our “elected representatives” to co-sponsor these bills

So do this NOW…

  • Go to Rand Paul's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SenatorRandPaul. Pick the most recent post, and leave a comment like this, “Thank you Senator Paul for introducing DownsizeDC.org’s 'One Subject at a Time Act' (S.1664) in the Senate.”
  • Call his office and say thank you to the staffer who answers. 202-224-4343

Then do this…

Use our Educate the Powerful System to ask your supposed representatives to also co-sponsor OSTA.

The hardwired letter to Congress for that campaign reads…

I would notice and appreciate your co-sponsorship of the “One Subject at a Time Act” (OSTA), HR 2113 and S 1664.

You can copy or edit the following for your personal comments…

I believe every proposal must stand or fall entirely on its own merits.

Stop passing unpopular bills by combining them with popular measures that are completely unrelated. I consider this practice to be dishonest and criminal.

You can do something to fix this right now. The “One Subject at a Time Act” was introduced by Tom Marino in the House (HR 2113) and Rand Paul in the Senate (S.1664).

I CAN THINK OF NO GOOD REASON WHY YOU WOULD NOT BECOME A CO-SPONSOR TOO.

Please be clear, I DENY MY CONSENT for you to continue combining unrelated legislation. BE RESPONSIBLE. Co-sponsor this legislation.

You can send your letter to Congress here: https://secure.downsizedc.org/etp/one-subject/

Next…

Today, we are also sending a press release, promoting what Senator Paul has done. You can read it here http://finance.boston.com/boston/news/read?GUID=25652638, or here http://www.sacbee.com/2013/11/15/5914124/rand-paul-introduces-one-subject.html.

Can you contribute to help us send releases to as many media outlets as possible? Today, we need to raise at least $1,000, with…

  • At least five new monthly pledgers
  • At least one person contributing $500

You can make your contribution on our secure web form.

You can use Bitcoin, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, checks, or PayPal.

  • Please consider making a contribution to help publicize this news.
  • Monthly pledges are particularly helpful because they permit us to plan ahead and be aggressive.

In summary, we need to thank Rand Paul and send out press releases today, so every dollar counts.

Thanks for your support!

President

P.S. We have even more good news coming about the Read the Bills Act and Write the Laws Act. Stay tuned!
