Bills Passed in Congress, January 2013

The following are the bills the House and Senate passed in January. The bills were passed by voice vote except where indicated. Roll call votes for the House are found here, and for the Senate here. The descriptions of bills are essentially taken verbatim from the Congressional Record Daily Digest (Index).

National Flood Insurance Program: Senate passed H.R. 41, to temporarily increase the borrowing authority of the Federal Emergency Management Agency for carrying out the National Flood Insurance Program. 2 pages

Disaster Relief Appropriations Act: By 62 yeas to 36 nays (Vote No. 4), Senate passed H.R. 152, making supplemental appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2013, to improve and streamline disaster assistance for Hurricane Sandy, pursuant to the order of Thursday, January 24, 2013, the bill having achieved 60 affirmative votes, was passed, 110 pages

Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act of 2013: H.R. 307, to reauthorize certain programs under the Public Health Service Act and the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act with respect to public health security and all-hazards preparedness and response, by a 2/3 yea-and-nay vote of 395 yeas to 29 nays, Roll No. 24. 98 pages

No Budget, No Pay Act of 2013: The House passed H.R. 325, to ensure the complete and timely payment of the obligations of the United States Government until May 19, 2013, by a recorded vote of 285 ayes to 144 noes, Roll No. 30. 6 pages
