Bills passed in Congress, March 2015

The following are the bills the House and Senate passed in March. The bills were passed by voice vote except where indicated. Roll call votes for the House are found here, and for theSenate here. The descriptions of bills are essentially taken verbatim from the Congressional Record Daily Digest (Index).

Congressional Gold Medal: Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 431, to award a Congressional Gold Medal to the Foot Soldiers who participated in Bloody Sunday, Turnaround Tuesday, or the final Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March in March of 1965, which served as a catalyst for the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the bill was then passed. 7 pages

Office of Compliance Administrative and Technical Corrections Act: Senate passed H.R. 1213, to make administrative and technical corrections to the Congressional Accountability Act of 1995. 5 pages

Boys Town Centennial Commemorative Coin Act: Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs was discharged from further consideration of S. 301, to require the Secretary of the Treasury to mint coins in commemoration of the centennial of Boys Town, and the bill was then passed. 10 pages

Budget Resolution: By 52 yeas to 46 nays (Vote No. 135), Senate agreed to S. Con. Res. 11, setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2016 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2017 through 2025, 278 pages

Energy Efficiency Improvement Act: Senate passed S. 535, to promote energy efficiency. 28 pages

Families of New York Police Department Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos: Senate passed H.R. 1527, to accelerate the income tax benefits for charitable cash contributions for the relief of the families of New York Police Department Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos. 4 pages
