A new Downsize DC campaign aims to end the health insurance cartel

Downsize DC seeks people who want to fight the Health Insurance Industrial Complex Retweet

Imagine if the law compelled you to buy a company’s most expensive product. Imagine if that law also priced-out small competitors in favor of the largest providers. Well, you don’t have to imagine, because those are the condition that currently exist in the health insurance sector. Our new campaign is designed to fix this problem.

The hardwired letter to Congress reads…

Repeal all state and federal mandates on what health insurance must cover. Allow health insurance to be sold across state lines.

If you agree with the following sample letter to Congress you can visit our site to send it, or revise it to fit your needs…

Big companies use state and federal mandates to make consumers buy their most expensive policies. Big companies also have more resources to comply with expensive state and federal regulations, so smaller companies tend to withdraw from the market. The result is fewer and bigger health insurance providers, less competition, and higher prices. In other words, a cartel.

Congress can fix this problem with a very simple bill that does two things…

*End all state and federal mandates dictating what insurance policies must cover.
*Allow health insurance policies to be sold across state lines.

Ending mandates will revive low-cost major medical insurance. Allowing health insurance policies to be sold across state lines will create a national market for health insurance. More providers will flood into the market. Competition will blossom and prices will fall.

Can Congress really end health insurance mandates at the state level? Absolutely. This is precisely what the constitution’s commerce clause was created to do. It’s about time Congress started using the commerce clause correctly, instead of constantly misusing it.
Candidate Trump promised to let health insurance policies be sold across state lines. Now it’s time for Congress to help the President keep this promise.

— END OF SAMPLE LETTER–
